NIA searches Saokat Molla’s home and party office, son questioned in Bhangar blast case
Train services on the Sealdah–Bangaon line were severely disrupted on Monday morning following a signal failure at Gobardanga station, causing major inconvenience to commuters at the start of the working week. Several trains remained stranded across multiple stations, affecting both up and down lines during peak office hours.
The disruption began around 8:30 AM when a signal point malfunctioned at Gobardanga station, preventing trains from receiving clearance to move. As a result, trains were forced to halt one after another, leading to cascading delays across the route. Railway officials confirmed the signal failure around 9:00 AM after initial uncertainty over the cause.
The impact was particularly severe as the incident occurred during the morning rush, with office-goers, students and daily passengers facing long delays and overcrowded platforms. The Sealdah–Bangaon line already operates with comparatively fewer trains and frequent irregularities, further compounding the disruption.
Railway authorities later informed that the technical issue was resolved around 10:30 AM. Services are now gradually returning to normal, although previously halted trains are being cleared first before full restoration of the schedule. Commuters, however, continued to face residual delays as operations stabilised.
